Day 283

I got 3 letters this week from my friend who I sponsor through Women to Women International. I know I have mentioned it before when I got my first letter but it is such an amazing program. You actually write letters to the woman you sponsor, you know her name, her children, and you get to build a friendship. We exchanged letters probably about 4 months ago, but it takes quite a bit of time to get another letter because the letter has to be translated and re-written.

This woman that I am sponsoring is AMAZING! Her husband was in the military like mine but died young :O( She has 3 children, the youngest who is Emma's age. One of the letters talked about how blessed she was that her village had water and I didn't need to worry about that for her. Can you imagine describing your life to someone and thinking that you needed to mention that you had rivers to get water from? She is in Nigeria so life is hard! She asked me to pray that she is able to move her family from there. After her husband died, she lived with her MIL for a few months before they took away all their belongs and kept all of her husbands money. I can't imagine the struggles she has already gone through, yet, she is full of joy and love for God. What a wonderful reminder for me!

I had heard you would get so much out of sponsoring someone and they were absolutely correct!! In another letter, she talked about how she always wished she could have been a "trained teacher like me" but her hopes of that happening were gone. How sad!! Thank you Lord for letting me be born in America and blessing me with more then I could have ever asked for.

If you aren't sponsoring a woman through this program, I strongly encourage you to pray about it and consider it. It is only $29 a month and you get to change someone's life forever, and it just may be your own :O)
